Southampton forward Shane Long has put pen to a paper on a new four-year deal, that will keep him at the club until 2020.
The 29-year-old Irish arrived the St Mary’s in 2014 and has since gone on to score 20 goals in 73 appearances for the club.
The Saints have already lost the likes of Graziano Pelle and Sadio Mane in the summer transfer market, leaving Long as their only current first-choice striker.
“I’m delighted. I’m excited to be part of what could be a big future in the next four years for this club,” he told the club’s official website.
Delighted to have renewed my contract. Thanks to the club & the fans for your support! #saintsfc #wemarchon 😇 pic.twitter.com/4Q65lwVU3F

“I love it here, the set-up, the training ground, the lads as well – everyone around the club. It’s a real family feel, and I feel like I’m a big part of that and I feel like I’m playing my best football here as well. I’ve enjoyed every minute down here. I’m happy, my family are happy, and it’s a good place to be.”
Southampton will kick-off their new Premier League season at home against Watford on August 13.
