Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso has penned a two-year contract extension with La Liga giants, Los Blancos.
Alonso confirmed his new contract on Twitter: “I’m delighted and honoured to announce that Real Madrid will continue to be my home for another two years.”
The Spain international had been in rumours with a couple of premier league clubs and Juventus in Italy in January transfer window – as his contract was set to expire in the summer, but Alonso has ended all the speculation and committed two-more years with Los Blancos that will keep him at the La Liga until 2016.
The 32-year-old midfielder has been considered as a key player in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad with 204 appearances since he arrived from Liverpool in 2009.
