Sunderland are reportedly close to signing up a £2 million deal for Liverpool defender Sebastian Coates later this week, according to Sunderland Echo.

The Uruguay international is set to complete a permanent move to Wearside after spending a successful loan spell at the Stadium of Light last season.
He only has a year left on his contract at Anfield, is expected to leave this summer, with reports suggesting that talks between two clubs are ongoing and the Black Cats are hopeful of reaching a successful conclusion this week.
The 24-year-old would be the club’s first summer signing as manager Dick Advocaat keen to rebuild his squad to avoid a repetitive mistakes over the last two seasons.
The reports have also claimed that Sunderland have made a bid for Dutch forward Jeremain Lens.
