Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has been in talks with Lille over the return of striker Divock Origi in the January transfer window.
The Merseysiders completed a £11m transfer for Origi on a five year contract last year, but the Belgium starlet was immediately loaned back to Lille for the 2014–15 season.
Following the arrival of Italian ace Mario Balotelli and Ricky Lambert, the Reds boss Rodgers allowed the 19-year-old forward to remain at Lille for the rest of the campaign.
But now, Rodgers is considering to bring Origi back to the Anfield for the second spell of the season as Lambert and Borini have failed to make the impact so far this season.
‘He will certainly be here next summer,’ said Rodgers. ‘Whether he’ll be here in January, there have been discussions. The agreement is with Lille for him to stay there, so we’ll see how that works.
‘If not we’ll work with what we’ve got.’
Origi has scored four goals in 26 appearances for Lille in all competition this season.
