Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, who has been heavily linked with a move to the couple of Premier League clubs such as Manchester United and Arsenal, has officially refused the opportunity to extend his contract at the Westfalenstadion.
The German international, whose current deal valid until next summer and the Bundesliga club have failed to tie him down for the future as confirmed through their Twitter account.

— Borussia Dortmund (@BVB) April 30, 2015
The Tweet translates as “Borussia Dortmund and midfielder Gundogan will not cooperate together beyond June 30, 2016.”
However, the European heavyweights such as Bayern Munich and Juventus are said to be interested in the midfielder’s services. But a move to Old Trafford looks prominent as Louis van Gaal bids to make his squad as strong as possible in for the Champions League next season.
That announcement brings some joy among the the United fans, who now should expect the Red Devils will going to approach Dortmund for the signature of the 24-year-old this summer.
Given that Dortmund lost Lewandowski on a free and Gotze on a release clause, doubt they’ll be happy to let Gundogan walk out for free too.

Manchester United is the most likely destination for Gündogan but this does not mean he has to leave this summer.

Everything points to Gundogan moving to United, given the options to both himself and Dortmund. Reasonable price too.
