Barcelona defensive midfielder Javier Mascherano has extended his contract, which will remain him at the Camp Nou until the end of the 2018-19 season.
The Argentine was heavily linked with a lucrative move to the Chinese Super League, but he opted to remain with the Catalan giants.

The 32-year-old midfielder, who also plays in defence, has made 290 appearances for the Spanish champions, winning 17 trophies including four La Liga and two Champions League.
Meanwhile, the Brazilian superstar Neymar is also expected to follow suit later this week.
