The Mali international has not played for the Lilywhites since December 2012 due to a long-term knee injury.
Cottagers boss Felix Magath has been impressed with the 32-year-old midfielder and re-signed Diarra on a short-term deal in order to help the Whites to maintain their top-flight status.
The west London side is currently sit bottom of the league table, with just seven games remaining.
