Newcastle United have announced the signing of Swansea City midfielder Jonjo Shelvey for a fee of £12m.
The Magpies have confirmed the deal by signing the England international on a five-and-a-half-year contract, which will see him to remain at St James’ Park until 2021.
“I’m very excited to be here. I’m so glad that it’s finally done,” he told Newcastle’s official website.
“I drove up through the night to be here so it’s been a manic 24 hours but it’s all been worth it to come here and play for this great club.”

The 23-year-old becomes Mike Ashley’s second signing of the mid-season transfer window following the arrival of Henri Saivet from the Ligue 1 outfit Bordeaux.
Shelvey has scored nine goals in 63 league appearances since his arrival to Liberty Stadium in 2013.
