Manchester United have completed the £28.8m signing of Spanish Ander Herrera from Athletic Bilbao. The midfielder has signed a four-year deal with the option for a further year within the agreement.

The Red Devils had previously attempted to sign Herrera in January transfer window, but a move to Old Trafford did not materialise due to clauses and agent demands on transfer deadline day.
The 24-year-old becomes the first summer recruit of newly appointed manager Louis van Gaal, who formally takes charge after the Netherlands’s World Cup campaign is over.
Herrera joined Bilbao in 2011 from Real Zaragoza, scoring 6 goals in 89 appearances for the club over the past two seasons.
