According to the reports in Sky Sports, Chelsea lure £20m bid to bring Benfica’s highly rated central midfielder Nemanja Matic to Stamford Bridge.
The Serbian international joined Chelsea back in 2009 and has made a couple of appearances for the Blues before leaving to Portuguese club Benfica in 2011 in a swap deal for Brazilian defender David Luiz.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho believes, Matic could be the potential midfielder who can improve the midfield department of the Blues for the coming season.
Blues are struggling with their midfield department this season and this is certainly one of the areas where Mourinho needs reinforcement.
The 25-year-old midfielder has been a key player for the Portuguese club since he joined Benfica from Chelsea in 2011. In addition, Matic has been awarded as Primeira Liga Player of the Year 2012–13.
The signing of the star midfield will surely bring some improvement in the Blues midfield department. Hopefully Chelsea’s fans will see Matic in action soon.
