Reds Keep Faith in Long-Term Pursuit
Liverpool have reportedly not given up on signing Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, according to TEAMtalk. The Merseyside club are said to have held discussions over a deal during the summer window, and that interest appears to be continuing.

Why Tchouameni Stayed at the Bernabéu
The France international was heavily linked with an exit, with Manchester United also reportedly keen. However, the 26-year-old ultimately signed a fresh contract in the Spanish capital. Since arriving from AS Monaco, he has won La Liga, the Champions League and several other major trophies.
This season, though, he has been used as a rotation option, with fitness problems a key factor in his reduced game time.
Curtis Jones Exit Opens the Door
Liverpool are said to be weighing up a new midfield signing next year to replace Curtis Jones, who joined Inter Milan in the summer. The report claims the Reds have even spoken with the player’s representatives in an attempt to persuade him. Transfermarkt values Tchouameni at around £60m.
What Tchouameni Would Bring to Anfield
Standing 6ft 2in, Tchouameni is a right-footed defensive midfielder who is also comfortable in a box-to-box role. He can cover at centre-back if required, which adds valuable flexibility. He is technically assured, strong in the air and tidy in possession, while his long-range passing and powerful shooting set him apart. His defensive work is efficient too.
At the peak of his career and with elite experience at club and international level, he looks a smart fit on paper.
Our Take
There is plenty to like about the idea, but persuading a player who has just committed his future to Madrid will not be easy, and any deal would likely cost far more than £60m. His limited minutes and injury issues this term also raise fair questions about whether Real would be open to selling.
It will be intriguing to see whether Liverpool make a concrete approach in January or wait until next summer. For now, attention turns to the Premier League resuming after the international break, with a blockbuster clash against Manchester City awaiting.
