Liverpool Weigh Up January Move

Liverpool have reportedly entered the chase for Fulham’s England U21 midfielder Josh King, according to Football Insider. The 19-year-old, valued at £33m by Transfermarkt, is understood to be viewed by Anfield officials as a long-term investment, with a January approach under consideration.
King’s Rapid Rise at Craven Cottage
A product of Fulham’s academy, King made his senior debut in the EFL Cup win over Birmingham in August 2024. His real breakthrough came last season, when he made 38 appearances under Marco Silva, 32 of them in the Premier League.
This term, he has started all five league games under new head coach Álvaro Arbeloa, scoring twice, and has stood out despite Fulham’s sluggish start to the campaign.
Fulham Reluctant to Sell
Fulham are said to be unwilling to part with their prized asset midseason. However, the report suggests a summer 2027 exit cannot be ruled out if the club’s struggles continue.
Transfer journalist Pete O’Rourke says the interest is widespread. Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, he named Arsenal, Manchester United, Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona as other admirers.
Is a January Deal for Josh King Realistic?
Liverpool have a clear track record of backing young, high-potential talent, and King fits that profile neatly. Yet competition from Arsenal and Barcelona could prove stiff, and Fulham will not be bullied into a cut-price deal.
A January deal looks ambitious, given how central King is to Arbeloa’s plans. A more realistic window may be next summer, particularly if Fulham remain in a relegation battle and their bargaining position weakens.
Liverpool, meanwhile, turn their attention to Sunday’s Anfield clash with table-topping Manchester City.
