Everton’s John Stones wanted by Man City

Manchester City are reportedly weighing up a summer move for Everton centre-back John Stones, according to The Guardian.

The England international has been reportedly linked with a move away from Goodison Park this summer after a poor campaign for the Toffees in 2015-16, created only six chances in 33 Premier League appearances.

Chelsea faced a number of bids for the 22-year-old turned down last summer, but City are believed to be in pole position to secure his signature this month.

The report claims that the defender has expressed his desire to leave the club and join up with new Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola at the Etihad Stadium.

The Citizens are understood to be in the transfer market for a new centre-back due to Vincent Kompany’s fitness concern in recent seasons, with the club were being linked with a move for Juventus’s Leonardo Bonucci.

Everton are likely to raise a significant fee for Stones, whose contract to the club is valid until 2019.
