Arsenal and Fulham have both been credited with interest in Sevilla defender Kike Salas, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes, with English clubs increasingly turning their attention towards the 24-year-old centre-back.
Salas has become a mainstay in Sevilla’s backline since breaking through their academy system, featuring consistently across the past three campaigns. He looks set to continue in that role this season too, though it may prove to be his last in Andalusia given the mounting interest from the Premier League.
Sevilla hold a strong negotiating position, with Salas contracted until 2029. That long-term deal gives the Spanish side scope to demand a premium fee well above his current valuation, should suitors come calling in the coming transfer windows.
Arsenal keeping tabs on Salas
Arsenal are said to have dispatched scouts to run the rule over Salas, a clear sign of genuine interest even if a concrete move remains far from certain. Reports suggest a January approach hasn’t been ruled out, despite central defence not being an obvious priority for Mikel Arteta, who already boasts Gabriel Magalhães alongside cover from Piero Hincapié and Riccardo Calafiori.
Interestingly, Arsenal have also been linked with PSG’s Willian Pacho, which raises the question of whether Salas is being lined up as competition for Gabriel rather than a direct replacement. That would arguably make more sense given the Brazilian’s current form.
Fulham eye Salas amid Bassey uncertainty
Fulham boss Marco Silva is understood to admire Salas, with any approach potentially tied to Calvin Bassey’s future at Craven Cottage. Fulham are keen to tie Bassey down to a new deal, but interest from Inter Milan could complicate matters, prompting the Cottagers to line up alternatives.
Personally, Fulham feel like the more logical destination here — Salas would walk into their starting XI, whereas at Arsenal he’d likely be fighting for minutes behind an already settled back four.
