Manchester United Lead Race for Leipzig Striker Benjamin Sesko

Manchester United are emerging as frontrunners in the race to sign RB Leipzig’s towering forward Benjamin Sesko, according to transfer insider Ben Jacobs.

United’s Striker Search Intensifies

After splashing close to £100m on Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee in back-to-back summers, Manchester United still find themselves lacking a reliable goal machine. Hojlund showed promise during his first season at Old Trafford but fizzled out last term, managing just four Premier League goals. Zirkzee was brought in to ease the load but failed to ignite the attack.

Now, with new boss Ruben Amorim determined to reshape the frontline, United are back in the market for a proper No.9.

Missed Targets Open Door for Sesko

The Red Devils have already lost out on a few key striker targets. Liam Delap opted for Chelsea, while Viktor Gyokeres snubbed them for Arsenal. Even a cheeky inquiry about Ollie Watkins was swiftly shut down by Aston Villa.

That’s where Benjamin Sesko comes into play. Standing at 6ft 5in and known for his elite aerial presence and blistering shooting power, the 21-year-old Slovenian is high on Amorim’s wishlist.

Sesko Prefers Old Trafford Move

Newcastle United are also in the mix, eyeing Sesko as a potential replacement for Alexander Isak—who, interestingly, is flirting with a Liverpool move. But according to Jacobs, Manchester United have held “positive talks” with Sesko this week, and the player is reportedly keen on a move to the red side of Manchester—despite the lack of European football.

Leipzig Hold Firm on Price

Leipzig, however, won’t let Sesko go on the cheap. They’re demanding at least £65 million plus add-ons. Arsenal were once interested but felt the fee was excessive, prompting their pivot to Gyokeres.

Still, if United can pull this one off, they’ll land a striker with sky-high potential and the physical profile to dominate Premier League defences for years to come.
