Liverpool duo Ibe and Flanagan signs new contract

Liverpool winger Jordon Ibe and defender Jon Flanagan have signed a new deal with the club.

Ibe, 19, has extended his contract on a five-year deal while Flanagan’s contract has been extended by a further 12 months.

Despite being sidelines throughout the season – Flanagan, 22, commits his future to the Merseysiders ahead of a potential return to coming season.

Flanagan will be ruled out of action for a further six to nine months after his latest knee surgery, but Rodgers is optimistic that the defender will come good again.

“He’s a very important player and has been a huge miss for us this season, Rodgers told club’s official website. “He has got a long road ahead of him over the next four to six months but I’m sure he’ll get his rewards at the end of that.”

The news will be a boost to the Reds as speculation surrounding Raheem Sterling’s future at the Anfield continues to cause problems to Brendan Rodgers.
