Football betting tips on who the favourites are to win this season’s Premiership

Before the start of the new season, most football fans – expected it to be a fight between Manchester United, City and Chelsea. There has been little since the start to suggest that this was wrong.

Liverpool have shown some promising form early season but, alongside Arsenal and Spurs, they are surely competing for Champions League places rather than the title itself.

Manchester United were the favourites with most betting sites throughout the summer, but City have since moved to the head of the queue – although it is very tight.

City have odds of around 9/4 for the Premiership title at most sports bookmakers, compared with 11/4 for United, but the latter have probably made the more convincing start to the new season.

It is probably the greater success enjoyed by new City manager Manuel Pellegrini in the transfer market that has led to City being made the new favourites by the bookmakers.

We should not forget that there is still time left for United to reinforce their squad. Chelsea under vastly experienced manager Jose Mourinho should also not be ruled out of title contention.
