Chelsea FC: Ramires pens new deal


Chelsea midfielder Ramires has pen to a paper on a new four-year contract, which will keep him at the Stamford Bridge until the summer of 2019.

The 28-year-old has considered as one of the most influential figures in English football since the winger joined the Blues from Benfica five years ago, having made 241 appearances for the West London club in all competitions.

The defending Premier League champions have confirmed the news, ending speculation that the Brazilian could be on his way to Serie A Champions Juventus in January.

The South American told club’s official website: “I am very happy to sign a new contract with Chelsea.”

“My family and I are very happy here in London and in the past five years the club has lifted every major trophy. I hope to be an important part of many more successes in the next four years.”

Ramires helped Chelsea lifting the Premier League title and League Cup last season, having scored two goals in 12 appearances for the club so far this season.
