Manchester United are reportedly plotting a summer swoop for Bayern Munich midfielder Joao Palhinha, according to TEAMtalk, as the Red Devils look to reinforce their midfield with Premier League-proven steel.
The Portugal international, who joined Bayern from Fulham last summer, has endured a frustrating debut season in the Bundesliga — managing just 941 minutes of action. Despite limited game time, Palhinha’s reputation as a defensive powerhouse remains intact, and a return to England could now be on the cards.

A Premier League-Ready Midfield Warrior
Palhinha was a revelation at Fulham, leading the Premier League in tackles during his time at Craven Cottage. His tenacity and ball-winning instincts made him a fan favourite — qualities United could sorely use after an underwhelming campaign that exposed their midfield fragility.
New manager Ruben Amorim is said to be eyeing Palhinha as an experienced, cost-effective solution to inject grit into the centre of the park. With Bayern open to selling the 29-year-old for around £25 million, this could be a bargain deal.
However, United aren’t alone in the race. Fulham are also keen on a reunion, banking on their strong ties with the player to bring him back to West London.
If United can beat Fulham to the punch, Palhinha could be the unsung engine needed to anchor Amorim’s revolution at Old Trafford.
