Chelsea have announced the signing goalkeeper Marco Amelia on a short-term deal to serve as backup to Asmir Begovic following Thibaut Courtois’s injury.

Amelia, 33, was available on a free transfer after being released by the Serie B outfit Perugia at the end of last season, where he made just one appearance before playing 41 matches in a four-year spell at AC Milan.
The Italian shot-stopper was a member of the Azzurri 2006 World Cup-winning squad, will wear the number 33 shirt for the struggling Premier League champions until the end of the season.
Chelsea currently sit in 16th place in the Premier League, 10 points behind the league leaders Manchester City.
