Man Utd Turn Up the Heat on Alex Scott Chase

Manchester United are stepping up their pursuit of Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott, with reports suggesting the Red Devils are ‘pushing forward’ to get a deal over the line, according to The Sun.

Why United Need Reinforcements

With Casemiro gone and Manuel Ugarte sidelined by a serious knee injury, Michael Carrick’s midfield is looking threadbare. United have already tied up an agreement in principle for Atalanta’s Ederson, though the medical is still pending. Elsewhere, chases for Elliot Anderson and Mateus Fernandes both went cold — Manchester City and Spurs won those battles instead.

Bournemouth Digging In

Cue the pivot to Scott. The 22-year-old still has two years left on his current deal, but the Cherries are far from keen to sell — they’re reportedly ready to offer him a fresh long-term contract to fend off suitors. Their price tag? A club-record £80m. United, by all accounts, are prepared to pay it.

The Complete Midfielder

Scott’s appeal is obvious. A box-to-box engine with the legs to shuttle up and down, he’s equally at home screening the back four or popping up in the No.10 channel. Add in his eye for a long-range strike, close control in tight spaces, and defensive discipline, and it’s easy to see why he’s on United’s radar.

Arsenal Lurking Too

United aren’t alone in the race — Mikel Arteta is reportedly eyeing Scott as a potential heir to Christian Norgaard at Arsenal. Meanwhile, United’s midfield rebuild doesn’t stop there: Aurelien Tchouameni remains a target, though Real Madrid are standing firm, and reinforcements on the left flank are also being explored. Old Trafford’s summer is only just heating up.
