Atletico Madrid forward Jackson Martinez’s agent Henrique Pompei has confirmed that the defending Premier League champions Chelsea are interested in the Colombian international.
Its understood that Chelsea have been struggling throughout this season and certainly their most concerning is the form of their attacking stars with the likes of Eden Hazard, Radamel Falcao, Oscar and especially the last year’s hero Diego Costa have all underperformed this season.
To rejuvenate the attacking options, it is widely expected that the newly appointed interim manager Guus Hiddink will be looking to reinforcement when the transfer window reopens in January next month.
Speaking to AS as quoted by Goal, Pompei said, “Jackson wants to succeed at Atletico, but it’s the club who will decide his future. I can’t say [Chelsea’s interest] is a lie, this is football and no-one knows what will happen in the future.”
Therefore, it has been reported that the couple of strikers being heavily linked with a move to the Blues with reports claimed that Atletico Madrid striker Jackson Martinez is one of the players whom the west Londoners are interested in.
The Colombian international has managed to score only 2 goals in 11 La Liga appearances for Atletico since his £25m move from FC Porto over the summer.
Despite Martinez’s poor performance, the reigning Premier League champions are said to be interested on the 29-year-old South American and a bid in the January could be seen as a possibility.
