Transfer Rumours: Wenger dismisses Balotelli reports

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that there is no truth in the rumours that AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli could move to the Gunners this summer, Wenger told beIN Sports.

The Italy international, who scored 18 times in 41 appearances for the Rossoneri last season, has been linked with a switch to the Emirates Stadium this summer with the recent reports suggested that Wenger said to be interested in signing the former Manchester City man as the Gunners look to strengthen their attacking options ahead of next season.

However, speaking to BeIN Sports World Cup show, Wenger was asked by Ruud Gullit (ex-Chelsea manager) whether he was going to be signing Balotelli.

“No. No, that’s pure invention,” Wenger replied.

“We cannot believe absolutely everything that is on internet or is in newspapers. Sometimes it’s created by agents or by press who needs news. But in that case, it’s not true.”

Now it appears as the Frenchman is really not interested in signing the 23-year-old, but it remains unclear whether or not Wenger is avoiding the talks or he is indeed not interested.
