Serbian Lazar Markovic confirms switch to Liverpool

Benfica midfielder Lazar Markovic has confirmed his transfer move to Premier League runners-up Liverpool after posting a picture of him (holding a Liverpool shirt) on his official Facebook page.

The 20-year-old has enjoyed a wonderful last season for Benfica, helped his club to won the Portuguese league and reach the Europa League final.

According to the Guardian, the Serbian international is expected to complete his £20 million move to Merseyside club this Tuesday. He will be signing a five-year-contract at Anfield and wear the no “50” shirt, as per his desire.

Markovic is set to become Brendan Rodgers’ fourth summer signing of the season, after the signature of Rickie Lambert, Emre Can and Adam Lallana.
