Done Deal: Dejan Lovren joins Liverpool from Southampton

Premier League giants Liverpool have confirmed the signing of Southampton defender Dejan Lovren on a long-term deal for a fee in the region of £20 million.

The Croatian has had a fine debut Premier League last season, made 31 appearances for the Saints. He established himself as one of the leagues most effective defenders.

After completing a switch to Anfield, Lovren told liverpoolfc.com: “It’s a dream come true. I’m happy and glad to be here. I’m proud and can’t wait to start.I know we have millions and millions of supporters – Liverpool is more than a club.

“After I played at Anfield last season, I said to myself: ‘One day I hope I’ll be able to play here for Liverpool’. The fans will know from the first minute that I’m a player that will give 100 per cent on the pitch.”

The 25-year-old centre-back joins fellow former Saints pair – Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert at Anfield.

Lovren becomes the third man from Southampton to Liverpool and the Reds’ fifth summer signing ahead of the new season following the signature of Lambert, Lallana, Emre Can and Lazar Markovic.
